Alfred, NY — Russell Sage College women's soccer travelled on Friday afternoon to Alfred University for an Empire 8 contest. The Gators came away with a 3-0 win as junior forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) scored twice. With the win, the Gators are now 4-1 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8, while Alfred drops to 0-4 overall and in the Empire 8.

Ricci jumped in the scoring mix early as she scored her first goal at 11:11. She added her second goal of the afternoon at 29:32 to help the Gators to a 2-0 halftime lead. Rookie midfielder Delaney Burton (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) scored her first career goal on a pass from rookie Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) at 67:34.

Ricci is the team's co-scoring leader with six points on three goals and now has 13 career goals, five assists and 31 career points with three career game-winning goals.

Sophomore keeper Kallan Shertzer (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and junior goalie Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) shared in the shutout win for the Gators as they each played 45 minutes and made one save apiece.

Alfred's Jasmine Sims took the loss and making eight saves with three goals allowed.

The Gators are back in action at Houghton College on April 10 at 1 p.m. in an Empire 8 contest.
