Acosta Finishes Among NCAA Leaders for Free Throw Shooting
ALBANY - Russell Sage College Women's Basketball junior Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) finished fourth in the country with an 89.0 free throw percentage in 2024-2025.

The guard, voted second-team All-Empire 8 Conference, ranked eighth in the Conference in scoring a 12.8 points per-game. She scored in double figures 18 times, including four 20+ point performances, and finished the season with 873 career points, just 127 away from becoming the tenth RSC player to surpass 1,000 career points.
Acosta currently sits atop the program's career record book with an 83.2 free throw percentage and ranks sixth among Gators with 129 career made three-pointers.
She helped RSC (11-15/9-7 E8) qualify for the E8 Conference Championship Tournament for the fifth time in program history.
