Sage men compete at Capital District Championship

Troy, NY –The Sage Colleges' men's outdoor track and field team was in action on Saturday at the Capital District Championship on the campus of RPI for a non-team scored meet. The meet was the final competition for the Gators on the 2016 season.

Sage's men's day was highlighted by the performances turned in by a number of Gators. In the 100 meter dash, junior Anthony Williamson (Beacon, NY/Beacon) picked up 10^th with a time of 11.51. He was also 6^th in the 200 meter run in 23.05.

In the 5,000 meter run, senior Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) picked up 15^th in 16:56.34, while rookie Zachary Funk (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) added a 19^th place showing in 17:40.67. Funk also finished in 14^th in the 400 meter run in 53.47.

Freshman Malik McNeish (Bronx, NY/The Eagle Academy for Young Men) took home 22^nd place in the 400 meter run in 1:00.82, while junior Ian Alejandro (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) posted a time of 2:17.27 to take37th in the 800 meter run and 27^th place in the 1,500 meter run in 4:46.61.

Rookie Benjamin Hulett (Shaftbury, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) finished in 12^th place in the javelin with a throw of 36.77 meters. He was 20^th in the shot put and the discus with marks of 10.26meters in the shot and 26.97 meters in the discus.

Also competing in the 100 meter run, freshman Deion Thomas (New York, NY/Democracy Prep) posted a 21^st place finish in 12.27, while sophomore Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of the Innovation Technology) was 23^rd in 12.54.

Freshman Markenzi Sainvilus (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) was 41^st in the same race in 14.74, while sophomore Jacob Clouse (Coeymans, NY.Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) picked up 43^rd in the 100 meter run in 16.15.
