Troy, NY—The Sage Colleges' field hockey team hosted the No. 19 ranked Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College on Sunday afternoon in an Empire 8 match-up. W & J improves to 11-0 and 5-0 in the league, while Sage drops to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.
W & J led 2-0 at the half and took a 1-0 lead at 19:59 as Rachel Buyan scored the first of her two goals on the day. Alana Boyd gave her team a 2-0 lead at the break with her tally at 20:39. Buyan added her second goal to lead the squad and now boasts 10 goals this fall.
Sage's rookie goalie Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 12 saves in the contest with five goals allowed. W & J's sophomore goalie Rena Isreal finished with a shutout making one save in the contest.
Sage is back in action on October 12 travelling to St. John Fisher College for a 4 p.m. Empire 8 match.
