RSC Baseball and Softball to Host Inagural 'First Pitch Dinner'
ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Baseball and Softball are proud to announce their inaugural 'First Pitch Dinner' on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
The event, which will serve as a kickoff dinner and a fundraiser for both baseball and softball, will include hype videos for both programs, remarks from both RSC Baseball head coach Matt Marsh and RSC Softball Head Coach Stephanie McKay, along with a roundtable discussion featuring three spotlight speakers: Rich Hill, Matt Hyde, and John Schiffner.
Below are a few notes on all three of the featured guests.
Rich Hill - 20 Year Big Leaguer for the Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals. Hill played baseball at Michigan and was drafted three times before signing with the Cubs.
Matt Hyde - NY Yankees Northeast Area Scout. After graduating from Michigan, Matt Hyde spent 9 years as an Assistant Coach at Harvard, Michigan and Boston College. Matt has coached the Northeast Area Code Team since 2007. As a coach he has won 2 Ivy League Titles, 2 Big Ten Titles and 2 Cape Cod League Titles as well.
John Schiffner - Winningest Coach in Cape Cod League History. Inducted into Cape Cod League Hall of Fame. Coached over 150 MLB Players while serving as Head Coach of the Chatham A's including Kris Bryant, Rich Hill, Matt Harvey, Eric Byrnes, Todd Frazier, Mike Lowell, Evan Longoria, Brian Roberts, Jeremy Pena and more. Schiffner was named American Baseball Coaches Association, District I, Division III National High School Coach of the Year and in 2000, he was honored as the Connecticut High School Baseball Coach of the Year. Schiffner was inducted in the Connecticut High School Coaches Hall of Fame on November 16, 2017. Schiff also coached at University of Maine with Coach Marsh from Fall of 2017 through Spring of 2019.
