Allan Stern Named Sage's 2014-2015 Fan of the Year!
Albany, NY—The Sage College’s department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2014-2015 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2014-2015 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average. The department also handed out the Fan of the Year Award.
The award for the 2014-2015 Fan of the Year was given to Allan Stern, husband of Sage’s ninth president, Dr. Susan Scrimshaw. A devoted and dedicated fan, Stern was a frequent face in the stands at numerous Sage athletic events both home and away this past year. A tireless supporter of the entire department, Stern was awarded the designation as fan of the year for his efforts in sharing in the successes of Sage’s varsity teams.
Associate Director of Athletics and head women’s volleyball coach Sandy Augstein-Collins said of Sterns, “He is a passionate Gator fan and true supporter of Sage Athletics.” She added, “He was a frequent fan for the Gators and attended several sporting events and even cheered for Sage when we played his alma mater, Williams College in women's volleyball this past fall!”
